EU primary aluminum imports fell dramatically in January 2026 following the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
According to Trade Data Monitor, imports dropped to 102,074 metric tons, marking an 83% month-on-month decline and a 57% year-on-year decrease. This is the lowest level since 2002.
